FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. 1

Will my details be kept confidential from my current employer?

Absolutely, these days you have greater confidentiality trusting the right consultancy partner rather than posting your details on job boards.

  2. 2

Do we send my details out to clients without my permission?

Where candidates express that they would wish to be consulted prior to client CV presentation, we honour this given directive.

  3. 3

I don’t have any Watch & Jewellery experience; can I still send my CV to you?

Sector experience can be advantageous, but in fairness all clients offer great product/brand training. If a job specification motivates you - please apply - individual professionalism is the key decider.

  4. 4

I have been out of work for some time, will this affect my application?

If you have the ‘right’ experience the fact that you are available sooner rather than later, can be viewed by some clients as being advantageous.

  5. 5

Are all of your vacancies advertised on your web-site?

We upload vacancies to our website www.jolyonmarshall.com before any other media stream. Not all clients wish their appointments to be so visible, so there will be briefs not advertised that our consultant team may be aware of.

  6. 6

How will I know if my application is successful or otherwise?

We do communicate selection decisions via e-mail to every application made. On the occasion a shortlist interview is won, very often a JML team member will call you personally - do please therefore make sure we have a telephone number for you.

  7. 7

Is it essential if shortlisted to attend an interview in person?

Yes - whilst appreciating all individuals are ‘time pressured’, the expectation still held by the majority of clients is that applicants they meet have first been reviewed in person by a member of our consultancy team.

  8. 8

Could JML give advice/their opinion on my CV?

Other than a passing helpful observation, you should really construct/style your own CV document - clients in general dislike ‘generalist manufactured CV’s’ and prefer individuals to pitch their strengths in a manner than reflects the true you.

  9. 9

Attending interviews is expensive - can JML candidates gain any financial assistance?

We do consider paying expenses on a 'case by case' basis. If you are requiring financial assistance please have the courage to make this known and the JML team will assist in a sympathetic and supportive manner as best we can.

  10. 10

Pending the outcome of my first application made via JML, would your consultancy still actively consider my CV when handling other similarly well matched client searches?

We love making great placements and of course we would wish to retain as many quality candidates on our database, who in the future could add sales/marketing or merchandising expertise to our clients’ brands.
